Srinagar, Apr 23 : A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been submitted to high court of Jammu and Kashmir against the “negligence of medical Superintendent GMC Baramulla” after a doctor tested positive on April 21. The doctor was allegedly allowed to treat patients for three days despite giving his samples for testing.

The petitioner has sought judicial action, stating that the authorities especially Medical Superintendent of Hospital is playing with lives of general public and there is none one except the Judiciary that can at this juncture save the public from the “irresponsible officials.”

Petitioner Suhail Ahmad Lone, from Kanispora, Baramulla has filed the public interest Litigation (PIL) before the high court of Jammu and Kashmir, a copy of which is available with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO)

In the PIL, the petitioner has stated that the young doctor who tested positive for novel coronavirus on April 21, was allowed to attend the patients even after showing symptoms related to coronavirus and despite giving the samples on April 19.

It says that the doctor was allowed to attend the patient until his sample report was received on Tuesday (April 21), showing his results as positive.

It also states that there is no clue how many person/patients were examined by this doctor from April 19 to April 21 and it is because of irresponsible attitude of Medical Superintendent who despite knowing they have collected samples of doctor, allowed him to work at Hospital which has put life of many in risk and at the same time they are untraceable.

The petitioner Lone told KNO that the negligence of medical authorities especially Medical Superintendent has plunged hundreds in worrying situation including the temporary employees who on dialing bases visit their homes and come in close contact with their children and other family members.

“I urge the authorities to conduct thorough investigation into the matter as to why be the doctor allowed to attend the patients despite the fact that his samples were taken already and he was a suspect for Covid,” he asked.

Pertinently, a junior doctor posted a Government Medical College Baramulla tested positive for novel coronavirus and became the first doctor to tested positive in the entire Kashmir valley while the total toll of positive cases in union territory of Jammu and Kashmir has crossed 400 mark with five deaths as on date and number of recoveries—(KNO)
