PLACEMENT OF 61 CANDIDATES UNDER “HIMAYAT” IN GARMENT SECTOR

Jammu, 26 Nov 2020: HIMAYAT placed 61 girl candidates through its Project Implementing Agency for On The Job Training (OJT) cum Placement at SCM Garments and Color Dreams in Tirupur Tamil Nadu. The candidates underwent six and a half months training in the Shirt Kurta Safari Making course in Garment sector.
HIMAYAT team mobilised the girls from the remote areas of the Kargil district, majority of them coming out of their native place for the first time. The candidates expressed gratitude to the government for providing them opportunity in honing their skills & facilitating their travel to the southernmost state of the country. It was informed that the Project Implementing Agency has made Boarding cum lodging arrangements at the work place with facility of local cook from the Kargil accompanying the candidates. The companies shall be providing salary as well during the OJT period.

Himayat , placement linked skill training programme for unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir is being implemented by the Himayat Mission Management Unit, J&K Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM), Govt of J&K .
Youth are provided skill training for a duration of 3 to 12 months, in a range of skills with the provision to provide placement of the trained candidate.
About 7000 candidates have been placed in the private sector in different job roles like Hospitality, Electrical, Retail, BPO, BFSI, IT, Health, Textile ,etc.
The Chief Operating Officer, Kapil Sharma, KAS appreciated the efforts of the Implementing Agency & encouraged the trainees to take up the jobs as per their skills in the private sector. He further informed that HIMAYAT is providing skill training in 79 trades , aligned with the National Skill Qualification Framework and youth of the UT should tap on the platform being provided.15607 candidates have been trained under the scheme & training centres are being operationalised post lockdown in compliance to the guidelines & SOPs notified by the Government. Representatives of the Implementing Agency & others flagged off the candidates.
