Police organises Thana Diwas in Budgam & Pulwama

As a part of public outreach programme and an initiative of J&K Government, Police in Budgam organized ‘Thana Diwas’ at Police Post Humhama, Police Station Charar-I-Sharief and Police Station Magam. Besides, Police in Pulwama observed Thana Diwas at all Police Stations of the district.

At Police Post Humhama, the meeting was chaired by ASP Budgam Shri Gowhar Ahmed-JKPS, DySP Hqrs Shri Naeem Wani-JKPS along with SHO PS Budgam and I/C PP Humhama. While as in Police Station Charar-I-Sharief, the meeting was chaired by SHO PS Charar-I-Sharief Insp. Muneer Ahmed. Similarly, at Police Station Magam, Thana Diwas meeting was chaired by SHO PS Magam Insp. Yasir Rasheed. These meetings were attended by respectable citizens, Traders federation and transporters, Numberdars, Chowkidars, Auqaf committee members and other respectable citizens of these areas.

In Pulwama, Police observed Thana Diwas at all Police Stations including Police Station Pulwama, Police Station Kakapora, Police Station Rajpora & Police Station Litter of the district. The programme was chaired by concerned supervisory officers. The meetings were attended by respectable citizens, members of Auqaf Committees, Numberdars, Chowkidars, Traders Federation and Transporters of respective areas.

During these meetings, participants highlighted various grievances/issues of public importance. They were assured that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority and grievances pertaining to civil administration will be taken up with the concerned Departments for their early redressal.

While speaking on the occasions, the chairing officers reiterated that the main aim of organising ‘Thana Diwas’ is to improve efficiency, transparency and accountability in Policing at grass-root level and to hear grievances of general public, besides seek support and active cooperation in maintaining L&O, curbing drug menace and others social evils in the areas.

The participants were also stressed to co-operate with Police in identifying anti-national and anti-social elements who always try to disrupt the peaceful environment in the district. During these meetings, the cooperation of general public in eradication of drug abuse, social crimes etc was also sought. The participants appreciated the gesture of Police and assured their cooperation in eradication of social evils from the district. They also lauded the role of Police for conducting such interactive meetings which further boost Community Policing and Public confidence.

02 drug peddlers arrested in Awantipora; contraband substance recovered

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 02 drug peddlers in Awantipora and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

Acting on information, a police party of Police Station Pampore headed by SHO PS Pampore under the supervision of SDPO Pampore Shri Imtiyaz Ahmad-JKPS at a special checkpoint established at Tulbagh Crossing arrested 02 drug peddlers. They have been identified as Amir Hamid Lone son of Abdul Hamid Lone resident of Lalwani Mohalla Drangbal and Imran Baktoo son of Mohd Ibrahim Baktoo resident of Noorani Colony Pampore. During search, 5.5Kgs of grinded Cannabis was recovered from their possession. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

According, a case vide FIR No. 124/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Pampore and further investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.

Debate Competition on the theme ‘Braveries of Police Martyrs’ held in Bandipora

To pay tribute to police martyrs who lost their lives in defending the integrity and security of the country and in maintaining law & order, police in Bandipora organised a debate competition on the theme “Braveries of Police Martyrs” at DPL Bandipora. In this competition 15 students of various government institutions of the district participated.

On the occasion Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shri Owais Ahmad-IAS, SSP Bandipora Shri Mohmad Zahid -JKPS, DySP DAR Bandipora Shri Ishfaq Alam, other senior officers of police & CRPF were present. Officials from Education /Sports Department, teachers, Educationists and a large number of students of various educational institutes of district Bandipora were also present on the occasion.

During the debate the participants highlighted the role of police in maintaining law & order, fighting various anti national and anti-social elements and other crimes prevalent in the society. Deputy Commissioner Bandipora in his address lauded the role of Bandipora police for providing a platform to the young and budding student speakers to exhibit their talent.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Bandipora said that during the celebration of Police Flag Day-2022 various events will be held across the district by police. In the competition, first position was bagged by Faisal Firdous Dar from HSS Shadipora, 2nd position by Rabia Mustafa of HSS Gadakhud Sumbal & 3rd position by Mehrun Nisa of HSS Hajin.

At the conclusion, a prize distribution ceremony was held in which Trophies/ Appreciation certificates were distributed among the winners & participants.
