Srinagar, Aug 21 (KD) : Jammu and Kashmir Inspector General of Police (IGP), Vijay Kumar on Saturday said the people speaking truth were being targeted here in Jammu and Kashmir.
Talking to the media over the recent killing of some local political workers, the IGP as per Kashmir Despatch said, “It’s not new here. People, especially those of political background are being targeted.” He said the police are trying hard to provide safety and security to the leaders, however it is not possible for all. He further said that the political leaders or workers facing any threat will be provided full security after a proper assessment.
The IGP while condemning the recent political killings said the efforts were on to either arrest the attackers or eliminate them.
Four politically affiliated people were killed in the past two weeks in South Kashmir.
A BJP sarpanch and his wife were killed in Anantnag district last week and two days back another BJP leader was killed in Brazloo Jageer area of Kulgam. Earlier this week an Apni Party worker was shot dead in Kulgam district. (KD)
