Sopore : Hundreds of students of Boys Higher Secondary Botingoo Sopore Saturday protested against the civil administration for issuing an arrest warrant against the Principal of the HSS Botingoo.

The protesting students called the action by Tehsildar Dangerpora uncalled for and an attack on his dignity.

“We appeal to the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, the higher authorities to take a note of the issue and take strict action against the tehsildar and other officials who attacked the dignity of the principal. We won’t allow the authorities to issue a warrant against a respectable person. The said officer must be taught by some teacher,” the protesting students told Kashmir Despatch.

The protesting students were holding placards and vowed to carry on with the protest if case is not withdrawn against the principal.

An official order by Tehsildar Dangerpora of which a copy lies with Kashmir Despatch reads, “Whereas, the higher authorities have assigned the job of digitisation of Jamabandies on a war footing basis. Whereas, this office has issued an order vide No.118/0P/DNGR/2022 dated 23/06/2022 for deputation of computer knowing offidals from education Institutions within the territorial J/D of Tehsil Dangerpora.”

“Whereas, all the Heads of the Institutions comply with the orders of U/S except Principal Hr. Secondary School Botingoo / Dangerpora.”

“Whereas, the Principal Hr. Secondary School Botingoo was called telephonically as well as conveyed through ZEO Dangerpora to attend the office of U/S but he showed lackadaisical approach and didn’t comply with the magisterial orders.”

“In view of the above I Malik Aasif Ahrnad Ex. Magistrate 1st Class ( Tehsildar Dangerpora) issued a warrant and directed DO Police Post Warpora to make his presence in the Court of U/S today only I.e 24/06/2022,” the order further reads.

While commenting on the issue, ADC Sopore Sajad Parvaiz Ganaie told Kashmir Despatch that the said Principle was several times called but he didn’t respond positively.

“Strict action will be taken against those affecting the peaceful environment. Anyone found instigating the students for protests will be dealt with accordingly,” ADC added.

He said that the erring Principal was invited to the Tehsil office and then called several times but he never followed the instructions.

“Digitisation of land records is going on a war footing basis and whole man power is being used in the process. The said Principle was requested to provide technical staff, computer knowing staff but he isn’t adhering to the orders. If the teachers of the school stick to the protests, they will be suspended with immediate effect,” ADC added.

Meanwhile, Chief Education Officer Baramulla was not available for commits despite this reporter called many times as he was in a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Baramulla.
