‘Protests Won’t Solve People’s Problems’: Darakshan Andrabi Slams NC’s Delhi March Plan

Srinagar, June 6: Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board and BJP leader Darakhshan Andrabi on Friday said that protests would not resolve people’s issues and urged the Omar Abdullah-led government to focus on governance and addressing public grievances instead of “befooling the people.”
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a Deen Dayal Upadhyaya workers’ training programme in Bandipora, Andrabi said the National Conference government should prioritize fulfilling its commitments to the people and work towards solving their day-to-day problems.
“Nothing has happened through protests, nor will anything happen through protests. The government must understand the pain and problems of the people and work sincerely to resolve them,” she said.
Responding to a question on the National Conference’s reported plans to hold a protest in Delhi seeking restoration of statehood, Andrabi said such demonstrations would not help achieve the objective.
“If the government is serious about serving the people, it should focus on addressing public grievances and fulfilling its responsibilities. The people are facing numerous problems and expect solutions, not political drama,” she said.
The programme was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Gh Nabi Khatana, BJP District President and other senior workers of the party at Athwatoo Bandipora.
She alleged that the present government was failing to address key public concerns and accused it of diverting attention from pressing issues affecting ordinary citizens.
“The people of Jammu and Kashmir expect solutions to their problems. Instead of misleading or befooling the public, the government should focus on development, employment, infrastructure and public welfare,” she said.
Andrabi further said that governance should be centred on accountability and service delivery, adding that the administration must respond effectively to the aspirations and concerns of the people.
Her remarks come amid political sparring over governance, statehood and public issues in Jammu and Kashmir.
