SRINAGAR, Aug 9: The deputy commissioner Pulwama Baseer Ul Haq Choudary along with SSP Pulwama Ghulam Jeelani Wani on Tuesday visited the Gangoo village of Pulwama district and took stock of the security arrangements put for hassle free celebration of Muharam and ensured all possible arrangements and facilities are being provided to Devotees.
SSP Pulwama also reviewed the law and order situation and interacted with the leaders of Shia community and devotees and ensured them all possible help and cooperation from Police. He received massive response from the devotees, who applauded the action and support of Pulwama Police.
Besides ASP Pulwama, DySP Hqrs Pulwama, SHO PS Pulwama and other senior officers participated in Muharram Processions. The Police officers served food and other eatable items among the participants to promote religious harmony, brotherhood and peace.
Notably, the 10th day of Muharram is observed as Youm-e-Ashoora. It marks the day Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and son of the fourth Caliph of Islam Hazrat Ali (RA), was martyred in the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD.
