Massive search Ops launched across district, says officials
Jammu, Sep 13 : Militants snatched the service rifle from a personal security officer (PSO) of a local Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, forcing the authorities there to impose restrictions under section 144 and massive searches, a senior police officer told wire service.
Peoples Democratic Party district president for Kishtwar, Sheikh Nasir’s PSO was overpowered at his residence by some persons who also snatched an AK-47 rifle from him. “The militants fled from the spot, he said.
The officials told that army, police and CRPF cordoned off the entire area and launched a massive search operation to nab the militants.
Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, A S Rana told that curfew has been imposed in the town in the wake of the riffle snatching incident. Sources said that it was the second weapon snatching incident in Kishtwar this year. On March 8, masked assailants barged into the house of PSO Daleep Kumar in Shaheedi Mazar area and snatched from him AK-47 rifle and 90 bullets.
