Rise or Perish

Date:

Jammu and Kashmir, especially the valley has been an abode of peaceful culture and coexistence in the entire sub continent.

However, the last few decades of uncertainty and chaos has made this region as one of the dreaded places to live on earth. But who is responsible for this chaotic situation, remains the million dollar question!

While there are no second thoughts or qualms about the role of terrorists and their handlers across the border who perpetrate the heinous crimes against humanity day in and day out; the mute spectators to this whole situation need to ponder as to how their silence has worked in favour of the spoilers of peace and tranquility in this region.

The latest killing of a 35-year-old girl Ambreen Bhat in district Budgam has again put a question mark on the role of the people in Kashmir who still fear to raise their voice against these barbaric crimes against humanity. Killing any innocent is deemed to be an extremely abhorable act in almost all religions especially in Islam. But the question remains, why does the majority community in Kashmir remain silent on such incidents and not give vent to their feelings under religious obligations.

Maintaining silence on innocent civilian killings is akin to corroborating with the tyrants. And this is the most detested position one can take under Islamic preaching. Unfortunately, Kashmir has witnessed so many innocent civilian killings in all these years that a vast section of people often think in terms of figures and have almost lost that human and emotional quotient. Sometimes silence means accepting the situation as it is. And this silence legitimizes these killings. We all need to rise to the occasion and say no to such inhuman actions or otherwise be ready to get perished.
