Kupwara, Mar 2 : Supposed to complete within eight months, the government has utterly failed to construct 10-bedded eye-hospital in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, which was sanctioned a year ago.
According to wire service— an order vide order number DHSK/plg/2018-19/ NPCB was issued on 07/03/2019 for construction of 10 bedded eye hospital with fully functional operation theater.
Official sources told that an amount of 50 lakhs were sanctioned from the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) for fast track construction of separate eye hospital.
They said that the land for the construction at Sub District Hospital Kupwara was although kept under consideration, adding that the funds were also released by authorities for the construction but the authorities concerned here have failed to take steps for its construction.
Such an attitude as per the official sources is forcing the patients to visit the private clinics or hospitals.
News agency KNO quoted Block Medical Officer (BMO) Kupwara, Dr Zaffar Akbar as saying that soon after the order was issued, the project was handed over to housing board for further necessary action.
“I have no information about the current status of 10-bedded hospital. I will write a letter to get the response from Housing Board,” Dr Zaffar said reported KNO.
