Shocking rise in the number of suicides in Baramulla

Baramulla: “Ek hi Zindagi Mili hai Jiyo Jee Bar Ke,” but this dialogue only sounds in films as the valley is witnessing an increase in attempted suicide cases day by day.

There seems to be no end to suicides in Kashmir’s Baramulla district, as four suicide attempt cases were reported in just 10 days.

As per details available with Kashmir Despatch, a 17-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in Jamai Qadeem Sopore on November 15, 2022.

A 20-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in the Fatehgarh area of the Baramulla district on November 19, 2022.

A youth allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in the Ogmuna locality of Tangmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on November 23, 2022.

An 8th-grade student allegedly committed suicide by hanging self in the Boniyar area of Uri in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on November 24, 2022.

The increased incidence of suicide attempts, particularly among youth, has become a serious concern for the public.
