Shopian youth joins militancy

Srinagar July 27, : A youth from south Kashmir has picked up arms and posed with an AK-47 rifle to announce joining militant ranks.

Asif Ahmad Ganie of Chitragam village in Shopian had gone missing couple of days back, sources told news agency kashmir Dot Com (KDC).

The family has started looking for Asif everywhere after he went missing.

Today, his photo surfaced on social media in which he is seen brandishing an AK-47 rifle, with a message that he has joined the militant outfit, Al- Badar on July 25, 2020.

A police official told KDC that they are ascertaining the authenticity of the photograph.

Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar has said south Kashmir will be soon freed of militancy and focus will shift towards the north.

However, reports of missing youth are continuously emerging from south Kashmir.(KDC)
