Says I am not an agent

Srinagar: The Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, Nasir-ul-Islam, has taken a firm stance against social media trolls who have accused him of being an agent.
While talking to reporters, the Mufti expressed his dedication to his people and his nation, emphasizing that he is not influenced by outside forces.
“As Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam I am the representative of my own people and to my nation and wherever people will call me I will be available but want to inform everyone that I am not an agent and I did not take the decision of the crescent moon on someone’s instructions,” he added.
He said that people took to social media platforms by using defamatory derogatory remarks against him and which is not just.
He also stated that people will go for Qaza fasting after Eid if the moon is sighted on April 20.
People in Kashmir were left in a dilemma on Wednesday night after the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan announced that the Ramzan moon was sighted while New Delhi’s Jama Masjid said otherwise.
The decision taken by the Jammu and Kashmir Ulemas led by Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam maintained that the crescent was nowhere to be sighted.
Pertinently, Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, the chairperson of the Waqf Board, has emphasized that Ramadan cannot be a victim of political disputes or committees, expressed her commitment to avoiding any confusion regarding the sighting of the crescent moon and announced the establishment of the Waqf board’s own Ruet-e-Hilal Committees before next Eid.
