Soldier killed after his service weapon goes off accidentally in Varmul

Srinagar, July 19: An army soldier died of injuries sustained in the accidental discharge of his automatic weapon in the Gulmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday.


An army official told Kashmir Despatch that a soldier of 19 Grenadiers identified Akshay Kumar a resident of Haryana was posted at Dewar Gali post along the Line of Control in Gulmarg got injured when his service weapon accidentally went off, however later he succumbed to his injuries in a military hospital.


News agency GNS also reported the incident by quoting a police officer.
