Sopore : The residents of Sopore village in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have complained about the unavailability of basic facilities.
As per Kashmir Despatch correspondent, The residents of Warpora on Tuesday said around 12 K families living in the village, are facing immense hardships from drinking water to electricity to education and healthcare.
The residents while taking with Kashmir Despatch said women walked miles daily to fetch water for domestic use, and this process is going on since past seven years.
Water collecting remains largely the responsibility of women and children who walk long distances to collect from wells, springs and cannals the residents shared this suffering to Kashmir Despatch.
They said that not only is the water scarce, what is available is unfit for drinking or bathing.
The villagers further said that they are the people who have been completely forgetten by the administration in its developmental plans and are living a difficult life in absence of basic amenities.
They added that they had brought this issue to the notice of the concerned higher ups but no attention was paid in this regard.
Talking to Kashmir Despatch the senior official at Jal Shakti Department said, water scheme has been sanctioned for the area and within 10 days the villagers will get water as per schedule.
