The Jammu-Srinagar Highway has been aptly dubbed as a fatal road by travellers because of a plethora of horrifying accidents that happen usually happen every now & then.
The closure of this road has always remained subject to the weather anomalies and often witnesses devastating landslides that take days to be cleared by the concerned administrative departments, afterwards.
There are thousands of true and even embellished tales told by the travellers who have by chance got stuck on this important highway during a sudden closure.
This timeless roughness of the road has become a part of our social norm in J&K that seems to be extensively incorrigible & thus silently accepted by all. Even the government seems to be idea less and least intrested to resolve this state of persisting turbulence once for all.

Such monetary disasters have made certain people to go from riches to rags.
Not only that keeping men and machinery ready all the time also incurs huge expenses on the government exchequer around the year. The total maintenance cost ever spent on this road could have aptly borne the onetime expenses for overhauling this road under a comprehensive plan.
The problem is huge but it’s once time resolute solution can effectively help both the business houses & government to avoid further monetary losses. But the question remains who and where to begin?
