Says some people spreading rumors to disrupt peace

Srinagar, Jan 04 : The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Saturday said that it is going to act tough against the people involved in rumor mongering.

According to the wire service—, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan said that the people whether in Srinagar or Anantnag are spreading rumors from last couple of days.

“It has come into my notice that rumor mongering is going on and some people are trying to generate scare among people by spreading rumors,” he said, adding that he has told in very unambiguous and unequivocal tone that anyone found in spreading rumors will be dealt with strictly.

“Those involved in rumor mongering are spreading rumors with an intention to disturb and disrupt peace,” he said.

Khan further stated that he has instructed police, agencies, Deputy Commissioners (DC) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSP) that anyone found involved in rumor mongering should be dealt with strictly.

Pertinently, rumors about re-imposition of curfew and other things were doing rounds from last couple of days, creating panic among the people.

Pertinently, the reports quoting a top police official said that two persons involved in rumor mongering were booked under Public Safety Act (PSA). (KNO)
