Srinagar, Jul 01 : The three days “Jashn-e-Wular” festival which incorporates a series of sports events namely Boat Race, Marathon Concludes on Thursday. The Festival was aimed at creating awareness amongst the locals residing on the banks of Wular Lake.
Officials said that, over 37 villages participated in the mega event. The boat races were organized in different Categories i.e single man, three men and five men categories. Army Goodwill School Bandipora and Army Goodwill School Sopore also organised cultural Programme on the Occasion. Over 3000 Spectators present on the occasion cheering for their respective teams.
On the occasion Several Civil and Army Officials present on the Occasion including J&K Water Skking Association President Bandipora Usman Majid, SSP bandipora Rahul Malik, SSP Sopore Javid Iqbal, Birgaider Vivek Nanrang.
Locals of Zurimunz said that they has never witnessed such type of event in Wular Lake. Locals of Zurimunz and its adjoining areas hailed the effort of Indian Army, they hoped and expressed Gratitude that more such Events will be Held in Future, that will bring Wular Lake and the surrounding areas on the tourism map of Kashmir.
The event paved way for bonhomie between civilians, civil administration and the Army and also assisted in identification of growing talent in the area. (KNS)
