Students suffer due to shortage of teachers in Uri Higher Secondary

Uri, July 01 : A severe shortage of teachers has badly affected the quality education at Higher Secondaries in border town of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla District.

Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said that the shortage of teaching staff is badly affecting studies of the students in this border town and in the middle of the year students who earlier were given admission for secondary education in Higher secondary Namla , higher secondary Salamabad Uri and in higher secondary Gingal now have been asked by authorities to go other places due to shortage of teachers.

Locals of the area told Kashmir Despatch that many schools including these three newly Higher Secondaries are victims of official neglect as authorities have failed to provide subject wise teachers which resulted in our children are suffering lot and in the middle of the year where they will go who will accommodate them.

They said despite tall claims of government that education sector has achieved culmination level but here in border town students are lacking basic facilities in the institutions which indicates the step motherly approach of authorities towards this town.

Fayaz Ahmed a local resident of Uri talking with Kashmir Despatch said there is a shortage of teaching staff in many educational institutions in Uri parts due to which our children suffer a lot. He however added that teachers shortage must be addressed at earliest sothat our children will not suffer more.

Samreena a local woman said that education department is playing with the future of our wards and wasting their precious time on pretext of one excuse or another. She while talking with correspondent appealed higher authorities especially chief education officer to intervene into this genuine issue so that our wards will not waste more time.

In charge officers of these Higher secondaries told Kashmir Despatch that no doubt shortage of teachers badly hit and in this regard higher ups were back to back informed by multiple ways but nothing positive happened on ground level. They said that earlier we were told elections is the reason and now a statement were received from the higher ups which reads that all the newly students should be accommodated in nearby higher secondary till shortage of teachers will be solved.

Dr Sajad JKNC vice president north Zone and representative of MLA Uri talking with Kashmir Despatch said that this was a joke for the people of this border town. He said we all are worried about the future of students who are badly suffering for want of teachers for their education but unfortunately authorities hardly bother about it . Dr Sajad said he had also took this matter with Advisor but as of now nobody seems interested to solve this issue. Dr further added that Deputy commissioner Baramulla should personally interfere into this noble cause as he came from education background but it is unfortunate he is in deep slumber.

Meanwhile chief education officer Baramulla Mushtaq Ahmed when contacted told this newspaper that our efforts are on to solve this shortage of teachers problem, he said that for timely based students can be accommodated in nearby high secondaries till that problem will be solved.
