To safeguard the sanctity of a nearby mosque, Indian army’s 52 RR kiloforce today restrained from using major ammunition in an anti militancy operation in north Kashmir’s Sopore.
An Army official said that keeping in view the presence of a mosque nearby, no major ammunition, such as IEDs, MGLs, or Grenades were used in the operation.
“During anti-militancy operations the army usually uses major ammunition. Today we had to change the same and be restrained from using any heavy artillery or IEDs near the encounter site. Using IEDs or grenades would have damaged the mosque but we didn’t want that,” the army officials said.
The locals have hailed the step taken by the Indian army in safeguarding the mosque during the operation.
