Uri, June 24: Two militants have been killed in the ongoing military operation in Uri sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Official sources told Kashmir Despatch that in the 3-day long anti-militancy operation along the line of control (LoC) in Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, two militants have been killed.
Sources said that one militant’s body has been recovered, while another body has been spotted along the fence.
They also said that a huge cache of arms and ammunition has been recovered.
Meanwhile, Kashmir Despatch learned from the official sources that this was an intelligence-based operation.
The Army established contact with a group of freshly infiltrated militants near the Line of Control in Baramulla district’s Uri Sector on Saturday. An official said the group of militants was spotted in the Bajrang-Uri sector. The group was engaged in a firefight during the anti-militancy operation, which was launched following “inputs about the presence of some infiltrating terrorists” in the area.
A significant success was achieved by security forces in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district last week when a most wanted and 5-year long surviving foreign militant, Usman, along with his associate, were killed in a gunfight in Rafiabad.
According to officials, the killing of Usman is considered a major success.
