Uri Police Approach Navy Commandos to Retrieve Body of Teenager Drowned in Jehlum

Uri : Police in Uri town of north-Kashmir’s Baramulla district have sought help from Navy MARCOS commandos posted at Manasbal for assistance in retrieving body of a minor boy purported to have drowned in river Jehlum three days before.
Reports reaching said that one 12-year-old boy identified as Shahid Ahmad son of Late Noor Mohammad Kanyal a resident of Nowshera area drowned in the river Jehlum while taking a bath, on Wednesday last.
“After thorough searches by a team with all the equipments available with us, the team however was unable to retrieve the body even after three days of the incident”, SDPO Uri Junaid Wali said.
“We have as such requested the authorities of the Naval unit in Manasbal area to provide us the MARCOS commandos for the assistance required,” the official said adding “We have been assured that a team will arrive by Saturday.”
“Fresh operations will be launched from tomorrow to retrieve the body” the official said adding “We hope we will get success this time around.” (GNS)
