Date:

Baramulla: Aarifeen School of Excellence, Baramulla held a two day virtual intra school phonics competition to help the little learners keep their phonic skills razor sharp and provide them with a platform wherein they can hone their phonic capabilities and be 21st century ready learners and orators. Around 110 students from Nursery standard and KG standard participated in the competition.

“Each child has its own sound book and the letter sounds heard in or outside the classroom are stuck in their minds forever. By organizing these virtual competitions, we are actually trying to boost the confidence of our learners and to help them to cope up with the challenges of life in a positive way.

Besides in these tough times the overwhelming response of the parents is really appreciable,” said Curriculum Coordinator Asma Sadiq.

The event was organized by the Public Relations Department of the school who said that their priority is to provide full support to the students to showcase their talent and excel in competitions held at Intra or inter school levels.

The sessions were chaired by Coordinator ASE Sandra Mak and Academic head Asma Sadiq. The competition was held in a very fair way with talented judges Aafreen Farooq Ashai (Nursery Grade Head), Raesa Bano (KG Grade Head) and Taniya Tabassum (Ist standard- English Educator) awarding the students on the basis of their performance.

Educators Shehla Shafat, Absara Akhtar and Faiza Akbar moderated the sessions.

The students participated in the virtual competition from their homes over Google Meet.

“It was overwhelming to see the participation of students in these competitions despite disruptions caused by the Coronavirus pandemic. Such events like phonic contests helps and boosts students’ confidence, encourages public speaking and familiarizes them with etiquettes of online communities,” Coordinator Aarifeen School of Excellence said.

She thanked the students and parents for participating in the virtual competition and assured to organize more such events in near future.
