KREERI, Sep 9: Educationist-turned-politician Naseer Ahmad Rather, the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) candidate led by jailed MP Er Rashid, believes that his party’s ideology and competitive spirit will be a decisive force in Kashmir’s upcoming assembly elections.
Talking to Kashmir Despatch, Rather, popularly known as “Naseer Botany,” emphasized that the AIP, which initially gained momentum from the Kreeri region during the recent Lok Sabha elections, is poised to make a significant impact in the assembly elections from the same area.
He stressed that the AIP’s foundational principles and the determination of its members will drive the party’s success. “Our party has already reshaped the political landscape in Kashmir. The youth’s involvement in politics today is largely due to Er Rashid’s influence. In the Lok Sabha elections, our campaign made waves in just a week,” Naseer remarked.
Addressing the competitive atmosphere in the Wagoora-Kreeri constituency, Naseer expressed respect for his fellow contenders but remained confident in his connection with the local people. “This is my first venture into politics, but with the support of the people, I believe we will secure victory. My sincere efforts are already resonating with the community, and I trust that the people will choose the right candidate for their welfare,” he stated.
Naseer emphasized the role of divine will in the electoral outcome. “Everyone is putting in their best efforts, but ultimately, Allah will bestow success on whom He wills.”
When asked about allegations against his party, Naseer declined to engage, affirming his focus on the needs of the people he represents. He highlighted education as his primary mission, alongside addressing other pressing concerns within the community.
Meanwhile, a ground survey by Kashmir Despatch revealed that the Wagoora seat is set for a fierce contest. Key candidates include PDP leader Syed Basharat Bukhari, former District Development Council (DDC) chairperson Safina Baig, Congress leader Irfan Hafeez, AIP’s Naseer Botany, and Apni Party candidate Shabir Ahmad Shah. The upcoming assembly election is expected to be a tightly fought race among these prominent figures.
