Sopore, Nov 09: The Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Surinder Chowdhury, stated that “we do not accept Union Territory status; for us, this is only a state.”
While addressing a gathering at Asia’s second-largest fruit mundi in Sopore, the Deputy CM as per Kashmir Despatch expressed that in recent days, they have been battling those (the BJP) who have caused suffering to the people for many years. He criticized the BJP for dividing the state into a Union Territory and for snatching away their special rights.
He emphasized that their government is a people’s government, elected by the people to put an end to the sufferings of Kashmir and to restore all their rights.
He said In the first cabinet meeting, we fought for what has been taken from them by the BJP. We passed a resolution against the abrogation of Article 370, for which the people voted for us, fulfilling promises made during the elections.
He asserted that this government belongs to the people, and all the promises made will be fulfilled. The representatives chosen by the people will advocate for their rights, for the bright future of the youth, and for employment opportunities.
He stated that the National Conference is the only party that can uplift the people of Kashmir from the turmoil created by the BJP. He stressed that the government will fulfill all the promises made.
“We want to strengthen Indian democracy, and we echo the same demand: Restore our rights that have been taken away and protect the jobs of our children,” he added.
He further assured that they will not allow any outsiders to encroach on the land of Jammu and Kashmir, nor will they permit employment opportunities in Jammu and Kashmir to be seized by outsiders. He emphasized that the resolution passed in the Assembly reflects the same promises made to the people during the elections and in their manifesto, a sentiment shared by the people of Jammu as well as those in Kashmir.
