Srinagar : The week-long celebration of World Environment Day organized in SSM College of Engineering and Technology at Parihaspora area of north Kashmir’s Pattan concluded on Thursday.
The campaign was organized by Ms Haya Qazi education administrator SSM College, concluded week long activities with plantation drive to commemorate “World Environment Day”.
On the occasion students from different educational institutions including Baramulla Public school, Model Public Sopore, SRM Welkin, St Joseph, Bilayala School participated.
Speaking on the occasion, the guests stresses upon the conservation of environment, restoration of wetlands and springs on scientific lines keeping in view the current environmental issues and concerns. They also threw light on the importance of plantation drive and asked participants to plant saplings of different species of trees in the premises of their courtyard.
The chief guests included Mr Haji Wangnoo, head of Nigeen Lake Conservation Organistion, GN Var president private schools, DFO Baramullah, Dr MA Shah HOD PG physics NIT Srinagar, Dr Kundangar environmentalist. The chairman Qazi Shabir Ahmad, VCP Dilafrose Qazi were also present at the event.
