‘VPN’ Proved to be the Only Lifeline for the People of Jammu & Kashmir, Which Connected Them With The Rest OF The World After Govt’s Continue Ban on Social Media Even After Restoration Of 2G Mobile Internet Services Last Month.

After 6 Months Post The Abrogation Of Article 370 (Once Known For The Special Status Of Kashmir) Govt last month restored 2G Mobile internet services with blacklisted social media and some other websites and only allowed access to 301 websites, but it doesn’t work as people in Kashmir managed to bypass ban by using virtual private networks (VPN).

VPN IN Kashmir And Why Kashmiri Need It?

VPNs are nowadays a blessing in Kashmir and Its People for making them connect with the rest of the world when Its Government puts blanket ban to access social media sites.

VPN became an important tool for the people of Kashmir as people can access social media sites.

A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, allows you to create a secure connection to another network over the Internet. VPNs can be used to access region-restricted websites, shield your browsing activity from prying eyes on public Wi-Fi, and more.

VPN A Blessing, A Lifeline, Kind of Oxygen, A Only Source to connects me with my beloved one outside Kashmir on social media narrated Farooq Ahmed after getting connected with his loved one on Facebook.

He said GOI didn’t leave any stone unturned, they arranged many technical teams to snatch the only smile from our faces after scrapping of Article 370.

Farooq said at beginning VPNs were working smoothly and we were able to access social media easily, post that developers started premium versions while recognizing that VPN’s are in demand, we also purchased the premium version for staying connected with our dear ones across the globe over the social media.

GOVT. of India, Tried Everything To Make Our Life Miserable once again post scrapping of Article 370. They called up so many teams to stop virtual Networks in Kashmir but Kashmiris are known for Jugaad’s (Innovations).

Delhi based magazine Outlook had quoted a Kashmiri teacher as saying my daughter had gone to Delhi to visit Supreme Court. I told her to download several VPNs. She came back with VPNs downloaded on her phone and through the ShareIT app, the VPN application is on my android phone as well.

If Nowadays VPN IS Not Getting Connected. By Saying In Local Language Haa Pei Treth (Hell With This), Ha Gai Shenaai (Get Destroyed) Lugai Naar (Catch Fire), Khaan Khraab (Destroyed Whole Community).

These days VPNs are very popular in Kashmir and developers created new VPNs with Kashmiri names.

Saika while communicating with her buddies in a coaching center in north Kashmir’s Baramulla about new VPS which are getting commonly used in Kashmir these days Holla VPN, VPN Tomato, Potato VPN, Better Net, TLS Tunnel and not only these Kashmiri versions are also getting used nowadays with typical Kashmiri names Allay VPN, Dalla VPN, Gulzar Peer VPN, Gafaar Technical VPN, etc. (All are Modified Versions)

One of her friend Nighat expressing grief over the actions of GOI while saying VPNs are the only sources right now with students, with the help of this we can attend live video classes over Skype, IMO, etc.

While speaking to Nighat, Her bunches of friends raised their voice and were wishing that GOI should revoke this ban which already had affected the student community across the Jammu and Kashmir since last year.

While taking serious note of Misuse of Social Media, The Cyber Police Station Kashmir Zone Srinagar in a statement had said a Case/FIR has been registered against various social media users who defied the Govt. orders and misused the social media platform.

Pertinent to mention here that J&K UT Govt. has issued an order wide Govt. Order No Home-03(TSTS) of 2020, dated 14-01-2020 banning all social media sites to curb the misuse of the sites by miscreants for propagating false information/rumors. The ban was ordered to stall the rumor-mongering and spreading false and fake facts having the effect causing social instability. The FIR has been registered to take cognizance of social media posts by miscreants by the use of different VPNs, which are propagating rumors about the current security scenario of the Kashmir valley.

This was the first FIR registered in Cyber Police station zone Srinagar since its notification by the Govt. The case was registered under FIR No: 01 of 2020 U/s 13 U A (P) Act, 188, 505 of IPC and 66-A(b) of IT Act. Continuing strict action against the use of social media over1000 social media handles were suspended and 10 suspects questioned for alleged misuse of social media.

Days after Director General of Police DGP Dilbagh Singh had said in a press conference that those who found misusing internet Virtual Private Network (VPN) and spreading rumors on social media will be dealt with strictly.

After this statement, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday arrested a person in north Kashmir’s Handwara who identified as Waseem Majeed Dar over misusing the VPN by spreading fake news and rumors on social media.

VPNs were originally just a way to connect business networks securely over the internet or allow to access a business network from home. VPNs essentially forward all your network traffic to the network, which is where the benefits – Accessing local network, resources remotely and bypassing internet censorship- all come from.

Note: All social networking sites using though VPNs are strictly prohibited.
