Hoping to go to Kashmir where my mother was born: Moeen Ali

Date:

England all-rounder Moeen Ali who is currently participating in his maiden Pakistan Super League has said that he is looking forward to visiting Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK).

Ali said it means a lot for him to come and play in Pakistan wherein his grandfather and mother were born. Ali said he used to regularly visit Pakistan until 15 years ago and play at his father’s academy and that he was waiting for an opportunity to come and visit the country.

Moeen Ali’s comments came after he made his debut for Multan Sultans in the ongoing edition of PSL on Friday.

“It’s a big deal for me [to come to Pakistan]. My grandad was born in Pakistan, my mum was born here and I am very proud of that obviously. But, I was obviously born in England and I am hoping to go inshallah to Pakistan administered Kashmir, where my mother was born, so… yeah, it’s a big thing for me. It’s a big thing for my family. My family are here, so yeah, I can’t wait,” Moeen Ali told the press in Lahore.

“I have been asking around (about coming to Pakistan). I have not been to Pakistan for maybe 15 years. I used to come every year to play with my dad’s academy and I just felt it is the right time to come and play in Pakistan. Mushy bhai (Mushtaq Ahmed) and Andy (Flower) were very keen on me. I said, why not,” Moeen Ali said.

“It’s the land where my mother was born, so it means a lot to me. Yeah, it’s an amazing place to come and play. The fact that the whole competition is in Pakistan is a huge achievement in itself, and it’s great to be a part of it.”
