Wild Chimpanzee caught in Ganderbal, shifted to Dachigam

Ganderbal: The local residents in Ganderbal on Tuesday caught a wild Chimpanzee after it was found roaming Wangat area of central Kashmir’s district.

Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said after being caught alive, the wildlife department reached the spot and tranquilized the animal to Dachigam National Park.

“We were walking around in the Wangat area when we noticed Chimpanzee in the area. We then called the officials as it was the first time that a wild Chimpanzee was seen in Ganderbal”, said a locale.

Meanwhile, a Wild Life Department while talking to Kashmir Despatch said, “Yes, we were informed by the locals in Ganderbal area that a wild Chimpanzee has been seen roaming in the area following which a team was sent, which later caught the animal”.

He added, “The wild Chimpanzee was then shifted to Dachigam National Park”.
