Young Congress leader Sheikh Aamir Friday visited the sweeper colony at Noorbagh in north Kashmir’s Baramulla town along with his associates and party members.
He distributed relief items and eatables like clothes, blankets, biscuits, juice and water bottles among the fire victims.
According to locals the dynamic youth leader was also seen at the spot last night trying to control the fire along with his team.
Aamir requested the district administration to take immediate steps for the rehabilitation of fire victims and also appealed the people of town to come forward in helping this poor community of Baramulla as per Kashmir Despatch Correspondent.
“The sanitization workers have been discriminated since last 7 decades and treated as untouchable. This community is cleaning and keeping our surroundings neat and clean so we must take immediate and proper steps to address their social , political and economic concerns. They are part of our society and we need to take care of them in this hour of grief,” Aamir added.
He also thanked the youth of Baramulla who without caring about their lives were instrumental in controlling the massive fire that engulfed the sheikh mohalla of Noorbagh Baramulla the previous night.
Aamir thanked SSP Baramulla Rayees Ahmad Bhat for monitoring the situation and making sure that fire doesn’t spread further to more houses.
