02 drivers arrested for managing fake COVID-19 Test reports at TRC Srinagar: Police

Srinagar, September 16: Police on Wednesday arrested two persons who were managing fake COVID-19 test reports in Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.

In a statement to Kashmir Despatch, the police said that on yesterday 15th September Police Station Kothibagh received a complaint to the effect that the complainant along with family were intending to proceed towards Jammu, On reaching TRC they enquired from Drivers of TRC identified as Omkar Singh son of Sardar Thakur Singh resident of Nawabbagh Jammu (Driver of Vehicle No JK03D-4447) and Nazir Ahmad Khanday son of Ab Khaliq resident of Bemina Srinagar (Driver of Vehicle No JK01AL-3612) about travel norms and the complainant also stated that they have not underwent COVID-19 test. The drivers asked them to provide their Aadhar Cards and so they will arrange for them a health team for covid testing.

They further said that, complainant provided Aadhaar cards and after 15 minutes the drivers provided them Covid-19 test reports with Covid Negative results. The complainant asked them without taking samples how you managed Covid-19 negative result.

After preliminary enquiry, the said drivers are cheating people and and putting the lives of public in great danger by managing the fake reports and emerging instrumental in the spread of covid -19 disease.

On this information case FIR No,73/2020 U/S 420, 468, 269 IPC stands registered in Police Station Kothibagah and investigation taken up.

During the course of investigation both the drivers have been arrested and on their personal search some Covid -19 reports with Negative results have been recovered from their procession. The motive behind the crime is being accertained and the investigation of the case is going on.

Srinagar Police requests the public that to visit only government approved laboratories for the COVID-19 tests and be aware of the imposters and fraudsters, as a single mistake can open the ways for the spread of the COVID-19 Virus, reads the statement.
