Baby dies in womb, family allege docs’ negligence in Sopore

Sopore, Dec 27 : Family members and relatives of a 28 year old woman who was admitted at Sub District Hospital Sopore late last night staged a demonstration inside the hospital premises on Thursday after they came to know that the baby had died in the womb.

The family members of a pregnant woman, alleged that the baby in her womb died due to medical negligence of doctors at the sub district hospital Sopore.

Khalida Begum, wife of Talib Rasool War from Rohama village, was admitted to sub district hospital Sopore on Wednesday for her check-up after she was in pain.

Brother of victim talking with this reporter said that during night hours we admitted her at sub district hospital Sopore.

He said there was present one lady doctor Dr Parveena but she didn’t respond properly, however a nurse present there treated my sister and termed her pain as a urine infection and preferred my sister to take a pain killer.

Brother of victim while alleged hospital authorities said that after taking pain killer no one  allotted a bed to my sister and we came back home , however after sometime she was again in severe pain and we rushed to local clinic where doctor within no time declared that baby’s heart is damaged and after test we came to know baby is dead added victim’s brother.

Other family members of pregnant woman also termed death of baby due to medical negligence at sub district hospital Sopore and demanded action to Dr Parveena who was on duty.

Meanwhile Block Medical officer Sopore Dr Sami denied the charge. He said that the death of the baby could be due to many other reasons.

Pertainally this is not first such case reported from sub district hospital Sopore,  earlier two pregnant ladies died due to alleged negligence of hospital authorities.
