Both COVID-19 as Well as Non-COVID Medicare Services Provided Efficiently During the 2nd Wave: Principal GMC B’la

Baramulla, June 11: Briefing about the performance recorded in the wake of 2nd wave of COVID-19 pandemic, Principal Govt Medical College Baramulla Dr Ruby Reshi said that both the COVID-19 as well Non- COVID related medical services were delivered efficiently and in a hassle free manner. She added that COVID-19 patients and other patients were treated smoothly during the critical circumstances without having any impact on one another.

The Principal informed that two COVID-19 wellness centres were simultaneously operated one at Indoor Sports Stadium and other at the GMC, in which the functionaries worked tirelessly day in and day out. She further said that mass testing were conducted and over 2000 tests are being conducted on daily basis which is highest in the Kashmir valley. The principal said that results of these tests are declared within 24 hours and 5% samples are being forwarded to SKIMS for further medical examination and research.

Dr Ruby Reshi further said that testing services in the virology lab of the College has tripled or even quadrupled during the 2nd wave and 3 RT-PCR setups have been established in the lab. She also said that various initiatives are being taken to augment the overall functioning of the college which will prove beneficial in future.

While appreciating and extending gratitude of health workers and other associated stakeholders, the Principal said that various authorities more especially district administration and NHM extended their utmost cooperation during these tough times which made it possible to provide qualitative and efficient healthcare services to the people.
