Dilapidated condition of roads in Ananthnag irks locals

Ananthnag, August 24: Residents of Khundroo Nowgam have complained about the dilapidated condition of the main road that leads to their locality due to which the residents have been facing difficulties.


Talking with Kashmir Despatch the residents said despite giving repeated complaints to the officials concerned, no concrete efforts had been taken to resolve the issue.
They said the road connecting area has developed huge potholes as the concerned department has failed to repair the road.


Shiekh Waseem a local told Kashmir Despatch that the road turns muddy and slippery, making it impossible to even walk or travel, using a two-wheeler. He said stretch had been lying in a poor condition since the past year and admin hardly bothers to look into the issue.


Another local resident told this newspaper that the road is in the worst condition for years and has turned accidental prone. He said Government has failed to take any initiative for the maintenance of this road.
Meanwhile, the residents again urged the concerned authorities to expedite the construction work on the road so that the people of this area do not suffer anymore.


An R&B official told Kashmir Despatch that the work on the road would be done at the earliest. He said the department is working hard to complete work on pending roads which are yet to macadamize.
