Kashmir Despatch condoles the demise

SRINAGAR, June 16: Former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) police and noted social activist Bashir Ahmad Malla passed away after a brief spell of illness on Wednesday afternoon at his residence in Srinagar.

Mr. Malla was known for his integrity, dedication and administrative acumen. During his tenure in Vigilance Organization Kashmir, Mr. Malla was known for his investigative mindset and had brought various important scams to their logical conclusion.

He was also known as one of the pioneers of Right To Information (RTI) movement in Kashmir. His association with RTI movement was acknowledged by its members across length and breadth of Jammu and Kashmir.

After his retirement, Mr. Malla would take part in highlighting the social cuases and would pursue public welfare issues for the betterment of society.

As soon as the news about Mr. Malla’s demise broke, people from all walks of life visited the residence of the deceased at IGI Colony Bemina.

Kashmir Despatch management particularly its Editor-in-Chief Syed Basharat has expressed heartfelt condolences with the bereaved family.
In a condolence meeting held at KD office, the editorial staff prayed for the peace to the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
