Baramulla, June 18 : Ghulam Nabi Azad, the leader of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party, has denied rumors of his “Ghar Wapsi” or returning home to the Congress party.
According to Kashmir Despatch correspondent, Azad while speaking at an event in Baramulla, clarified that once he had left the Congress, he could not rejoin it.
He dismissed the baseless and incorrect speculation about him joining the Congress again.
Azad expressed his frustration over the delay in conducting elections in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that they should have been held within the five-year timeframe.
He criticized opposition parties for only displaying unity when their own parties faced problems while remaining silent on the election issue in Jammu and Kashmir.
Ghulam Nabi Azad resigned from the Congress party in August of the previous year, citing Rahul Gandhi’s “immaturity,” the dwindling political influence of the Congress, and its poor performance in elections.
Within a month of his resignation, Azad launched his own political party, the Democratic Azad Party.
Azad emphasized that his party would prioritize the restoration of full statehood for Jammu and Kashmir, as well as the rights to land and employment for the residents holding domicile in Jammu and Kashmir.
