Ilicit timber seized in Boniyar

Srinagar, June 11 : The officials of forest department along with police have seized large quantity of illegal timber in north Kashmir’s Boniyar on Thursday morning.

Sources told Kashmir Despatch that a team of police headed by DSP Irshad Ahamd along with forest team carried out the raid in Boniyar village of Baramulla and seized huge quantity of illicit timber.

Local sources said that Boniyar forests is witnessing ruthless felling of trees as timber mafia is active in cutting prized Deodar and Kail trees in the forests.

A senior police officer while confirming to Kashmir Despatch said large quantity of illegal timber was siezed during a special raid,he said manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits involved in timber smuggling and those involved in smuggling will face strict action as per law.
