In dead of night, Valley witnesses inter- district vehicle movement;essential supplies also unloaded under cover of darkness
Srinagar 16 Sep : The valley based transporters, who are bearing the brunt of prevailing situation in Kashmir as their livelihood has got a direct hit are now preferring to travel and make some bucks in night hours to avoid trouble and inconvenience.
As the valley enters into the 43rd day of the uncertainty in the backdrop of the revocation of the article 370 and the bifurcation of the J&K state into two Union Territories (UT’s).
Sirajud din, a resident of Khag, Budgam, who visited his son in Srinagar at 2 told the wire service that he faced a lot of issues while coming to Srinagar in the past days and several times our cab was not allowed by the forces who were controlling the protests at several places and now this I opted to travel at night and finally I reached here.”
He told the that he was not supposed to travel to Srinagar, if the communication services were not gagged by the authorities. He further told , “Being a father how can I stay out of touch with my son for more than a month as I was worried a lot for his well-being and now I am thinking to return back to my home along with my son on the next proceeding night.”
SahilSiraj, the son who met his father amid emotional scene told,” I was not expecting that my father will take such step to visit me here in Srinagar as it was a surprise for me and my family. I couldn’t control my emotions when my father hugged me.” He told the wire service KNO that he thought to travel his home but due to non-availability of the public transport, he couldn’t do so.
Sahil further told the wire services— that,” I visited the DC office several times with a mobile number of my father in order to get in touch with him but unfortunately due to the communication gag the call couldn’t get through.” Many others echoed similar views and stated that due to the prevailing uncertainty in Kashmir, they are preferring to travel during night hours. “It’s safe for both, passengers and the driver as well,” he said.
