Family of Kulgam prisoner questions his sudden death
Claims medical negligence as cause of his death

Kulgam, Nov 9: A person namely Shahzad Ahmad Wani R/O Shalipora Kulgam who was an Accused and detained also in killing of Non-local Labours, died at GMC hospital on Monday morning.
He was in judicial custody since October 2019.He was booked in a case under number 82/2019 under section13 unlawful activities at PS DH Pora; the deceased had been arrested and was in jail after the killing of some non local labourers at Katrusoo last year by some unknown gunmen.
It is pertinent to mention that the killing spree of non locals labourers had started in August 2019 after the abrogation of Article 370.
According to the jail authorities he was unwell and died in the hospital on Monday morning, however the exact cause of his death wasn’t known.
Meanwhile, The family of prisoner Shahzad Ahmad Wani resident of Shalipora Kulgam who died at GMC hospital after a brief illness has raised questions on his sudden death.
They questioned if he was seriously ill why didn’t jail authorities inform them. They also mentioned that he was arrested in 2019 on the day when he had gone to work as manual labour in the Apple market and during night hours he was picked up by forces.
He is survived by his ailing wife and three minor daughters.
His father said that they have seen him since COVID lockdown and he claimed that once he was ill and they went with necessary medicines to jail authorities but they refused to allow the medicines inside. His brother added that they were waiting for bail but his dead body reached home.
