Srinagar, Aug 19 : A militant has been killed in an ongoing gunfight at Yadipora area of Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
An official told Kashmir Despatch that one militant has been killed in an ongoing gunfight while earlier in the exchange of fire one army Major was injured.
He said the operation in the area is underway.
A police officer also confirmed about the killing of one militant, he however, said the identity of slain militant is yet to be ascertained.
Earleir in the morning a joint team of Army’s 29 RR, SOG and CRPF sealed the village following inputs of militants presence in the area.
Later a search operation turned into gunfight after hidding militants fired upon them.
Pertinent to mention here that this is third encounter in the north Kashmir’s Baramulla district since 20 days.
Three top militant commanders including Sajad Haider, Usman a Pak militant commander were slain in these last two encounters which forces termed a big achievement.
