Night football tourney concludes in Pattan

Pattan, Oct 29 : The Football fever is at its peak in Andergam Pattan in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district after a brief lull in sports activities from past few years with a number of tournaments being played in the village, Andergam Pattan create history in Football in Pattan town as they host the first night Football tournament at sports field.

A mega night football tournament organised by young youths was concluded at play field Andergam Pattan on Wednesday night .

The final match of the tournament was played between Chinar FC Andergam vs Gowher Fc Sopore which started at 7: 00 pm, was witnessed by thousands of football fans, who had converged to the venue from the vicinity.


From afternoon,Huge number of fans gathered at the place through cars, bikes, trucks, tippers, load carriers and whatever form of transport they could get at the venue to witness the match, the crowd thoroughly enjoyed the 60-minutes of high voltage football match at the place which is always in news for other reasons.

Despite their busy schedule, the enthusiasm of the fans was huge as they had travelled a long distance to watch their football heroes perform at the Andergam sports field.

Spectators said that this match proved to be one of the most exciting finals in recent memory, both the teams play aggressively in the match Chinar Fc Andergam opened account in the 11th minute of the match,it was danish akbar who scored a brilliant goal from center line, giving early lead to the team. Trailing by a single goal, Gowher Fc Sopore went for all out attacks and tried their best to score levelling goal but failed to score till the final vissle blew and Chinar Fc Andergam clinch the title of the Tourney.

Danish Akbar was adjudged as man of the match for scoring match winning goal in the match and Amir Aziz was adjudged as man of the tournament for scoring 12 goals in the tournament.

40 teams from Srinagar, Baramulla, Sopore, pattan and bandipora participated in the tournament and fans flocked to the every light lit field to watch football tourney at Andergam.

DFA Secretary Nazir ahmad rather was chief guest and other great personalities of the village were present at the venue.

The senior citizens of the village applauded the role of youths in conducting such activities round the year with an aim to scoop up the talent of the youths in sports activities.

“The aim of organising this tournament was to nurture the sports talent and development of team spirit in the youths “said asif khan tournament management member.

The football Tournament concluded with distribution of prizes and trophies to the winner and all the playing members for their felicitation.

Social activist Basit Andergami appealled to higher authorities to pay attention in build infrastructure to this ground, about installing proper lighting on the ground so players do not face difficulty at night in next edition.
