Jammu and Kashmir has always remained a breath-taking landscape of fluctuating politics. The region is presently undergoing a phase of intense trials wherein political opportunism remains a crucial epicentre for all of the political activism.
Just two months after the abrogation of Article-370 in Jammu and Kashmir, a political umbrella organisation under the name of PAGD was created at Gupkar. Its purpose of existence was professed to revolve around the restoration of Article 35-A.
This association is a conglomerate of several political parties which avowed to put unstinted efforts for safeguarding the special status of Jammu and Kashmir whilst staying away from talks until Article-370 was restored.
However, the self-motivated and uncertain politics in J&K has always astonished people with strange decisions and bizarre coalitions that are extremely hard to comprehend.
It was PAGD that from the past one and a half year showed its resoluteness in regards with the restoration of the pre-5 August position in J&K. The political stagnation and aloofness from electoral process, with an exception of DDC, remained one of its intrinsic traits.
While some doubted their intentions but the gullible lot continued to believe in their narrative. However, as the winds have started to turn, the political malleability is evidently visible in the talks of these leaders who once championed the ‘Uncompromising lot’.
