Says militancy in Kashmir on decline, stresses police to use technology for ‘more success’

Poonch/Rajouri, May 28 : Director General of Police (DGP) Kashmir Dilbagh Singh Tuesday remarked that the killing of Zakir Musa marked the end of ISIS in Kashmir. He also said that the ideology of the global militant group was “unacceptable” to Kashmir.

DGP was addressing police jawans and officers at District Police Lines Rajouri and Poonch during his visit to the twin districts.

He was accompanied by IGP Vijay Kumar and DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range Vivek Gupta. The visit was part of the series of his visits to the districts of Jammu Zone.

Earlier, DGP visited Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, Gool, Mahore, Reasi and Udhampur districts of Jammu Zone.

Responding to the question on the killing of Ansar Ghazwatul Hind (AGH) chief Zakir Rashid Bhat alias Zakir Musa, DGP said Musa was coming up with a new idea in the militancy.

“He was coming up with ISIS ideology,” Singh said adding that with Musa’s killing, the ideology has also been killed.

DGP also claimed that the propounded ideology of Zakir Musa was not accepted by anyone inside and outside Kashmir. “Musa tried hard to mislead people but with the efforts of police, the supporters were crushed and at last he was killed,” he said.

Claiming that the number of militants is decreasing in the Valley, Singh said there are 275 militants active of which 100 to 115 are foreign. Earlier the number would increase but with back to back killings the number has decreased, he said.

“We also succeeded in stopping infiltration this year which resulted in less foreigners reaching this side,” Singh added.

Singh on the occasion congratulated forces for smooth conduct of recently held elections and hailed them for their efforts against drug menace in Kashmir.

“Drug peddlers should be booked under PSA to curb their malpractices and bring them to justice,” he said.

He highlighted the importance of technology and crime detection and stressed upon the police personnel to equip themselves with more professional skills to achieve better successes in fight against crime and militancy.

DGP impressed upon police that they should be people friendly but tough against criminals. (GNS)

Zakir Musa’s Father: Stay Non-Controversial Even If People Disagree With You

Srinagar, May 28 : Father of slain Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind chief Zakir Musa today asked people to remain united and do not create division on the basis of different militant groups.

In his address to mourners at his Noorpora residence in the southern Tral area, Musa’s father Abdul Rashid Bhat said he always wanted his son to stay non-controversial.

“I wanted that my son too should have been non-controversial. Whether people agree or disagree, we have to invite people towards a particular cause, but we should do it without any quarrels,” Rashid, a retired government engineer, said.

“Please be United, don’t get divided,” he urged. Musa’s father said that “enemy is always looking for an opportunity to divide us”. “We’ve already been divided into different sects, now they are dividing us into groups,” he said.

The father of one of Kashmir’s most popular militant commander while reiterating his son’s stand said that he believes all militants are fighting to satisfy Allah.

“Every militant is dear to us. His only aim is to satisfy Allah, irrespective of his group affiliation. But we create issues over these things also. Please don’t do it. All Mujahideen are equal for us, irrespective of groups, colour, qualification and region,” he said.

Pertinent to mention here that while Zakir Musa was critical of Pakistan-based leadership of militant outfits active in Kashmir, he never targeted militants active in Kashmir. In his multiple statements, he had praised slain militants of various outfits, saying they all laid down their lives for the cause of Islam. (GNS)

I see fasting as great mental exercise and also, as a great spiritual exercise: Amla

0

Elegant right hand batsman Hashim Amla is getting ready for one of his career’s biggest challenges – the ICC World Cup 2019 –  credits Ramadan for improving his physical and mental approach.

The opener, whose form was patchy in the lead up to the World Cup and whose selection to the final 15 raised some eyebrows, has been in fine form in the two warm-up game including a cracking half-century in the rained-out practice game against West Indies on Sunday.

“It really helps with my conditioning,” Amla said after the game against West Indies in Bristol on Sunday. “Fasting is something I always look forward to. It’s the best month of the year. I see it as a great mental exercise and also, as a great spiritual exercise,” he added.

Back in 2012, Amla was in the middle of Ramadan, when he became South Africa’s highest individual Test run-scorer with his 311 not out at The Oval. Amla has 7,910 runs in 174 ODIs at an average of 49.74 with 27 centuries till date.

The SA veteran took part in domestic T20 tournament last month but opted out of the final stages to work on his ODI game. “T20 is different to fifty-over cricket. I had two weeks with (batting coach) Dale Benkenstein and spent time in the nets batting the way a fifty-over cricketer would bat. It was important to have that time. Sometimes it works out; sometimes it doesn’t,” Amla said.

Amla has looked in sublime touch with two half-centuries in South Africa’s two warm-up games. Amla will be vying for the opener’s spot with Aiden Markram, who has been in fine form for Hampshire in County cricket this season.

In response to the queries of the State Government regarding the authenticity of the above said Board, the concerned competent authorities have clarified that the said Board has been simply registered as a Society and not empowered to issue any certificate of academic qualification.

The matter has come to fore after a complaint was received by the Government regarding the genuineness of the certificates issued by the Central Board of Higher Education, Uttam Nagar, New Delhi on the basis of which some people have got the employment in Government departments.
