CEC Kargil reviews pace of developmental works in Silmoo constituency

KARGIL, DECEMBER 04:- Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan today reviewed the physical and financial progress   on developmental works in Silmoo Constituency under Capex Budget Plan, BADP and other centrally sponsored schemes here at a meeting of the concerned officers.

Executive Engineers of PHE, I&FC, PMGSY and other sectors besides AEEs, AEs, JEs and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.

The CEC took brief from the officers about the pace of work on different ongoing projects as well as the proposed works.

It was informed in the meeting that work on the construction of link road from Gargardo to Dangal, being constructed at a cost of Rs 194.60 lakh, is in full swing and 90% of the project has been completed, while as Rs 25 lakh  has been paid with regard to the construction of link road from Garkone Monastery on account of land and tree compensation.

The officers further informed the CEC that the construction of Foot Bridge at Garkone has been completed at a cost of Rs 120.55 lakhs, while as around 95% repair and construction of Public Health Centre at Batalik and Gargardo has been completed at cost of Rs 28.00 lakhs and 30.00 lakhs respectively.

The CEC directed the concerned to prepare proposals for fencing and necessary repairs of the Hostel Block at Higher Secondary School Silmoo so that the completed structure could be used to provide residential facilities to the students of Batalik and other adjoining areas.

Under I&FC sector it was revealed that work on the remodelling of Mayour Khul Grong Silmoo is being executed at a cost of Rs 265.00 lakhs while as 75% work on the remodelling of Bari Yourba Khul has been completed for which Rs 271.00 lakhs were sanctioned.

Meanwhile, the engineers of PHE sector informed that 90% of work has been completed on the water supply scheme at Chulichan which is estimated to be completed at a cost of Rs 122.00 lacs. They further said that fitting of pipes and collection chamber in respect of Rs 227.00 lacs water supply scheme at Gargardo has also been carried out till now while as the remaining work is being executed in full swing.

The CEC also inquired from the officers about the new schemes proposed under CRF, languishing projects to be funded through JKIDFC and other schemes proposed for State and Central funding.

It was given out that proposals for construction of link road from Silmoo to Sharchay Batalik, construction and up gradation of roads at Garkone and Sanachay, construction of link road from Darchiks to Gargi Pugupa Tharoge construction of 1×56 metres span steel girder bridge over Indus river at Garkone and up gradation and up gradation of link road Lhalung Sandoo have been submitted at a collective cost of Rs 4207.69 lacs.

Regarding the languishing projects, the CEC was informed that projects including the construction of link road Spangstod Lhlaung, link roads at Adam Mohallah and Naranee to Grong Silmoo and several other projects have been proposed for funding through JKIDFC.

The CEC impressed upon the concerned officers to further activate their men and machinery so that work on the ongoing schemes and projects are completed within the stipulated period of time.

He also urged upon them to work with added zeal and enthusiasm in ensuring the completion of projects so that the benefits accrue to the common people in the best possible manner.

CEC Leh, Dorjay call on Advisor Kumar

JAMMU, DECEMBER 04: Chairman/Chief Executive Councilor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, (LAHDC) Leh, Jamyang Tsering Namgial and MLC Chering Dorjay today called on Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar.

Deputy Chairman LAHDC Leh Gyal P Wangyal, Executive Councillors LAHDC Leh, Tsering Sandup and Phunsok Stanzin were also present on the occasion.

  CEC Leh apprised the Advisor about important issues pertaining to the development of Leh district.

With regard to the strengthening of health sector in the district, the delegation raised several important issues that need attention of the government. The main issues that were projected included shortage of doctors, up-gradation of existing heath institutions, construction of separate building with residential facilities for students & teaching staff of AMT School that presently runs from old block of District Hospital, expediting of PMDP projects, requirement of Primary Health Centre under National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) and others.

Besides this, the delegation also requested for strengthening of Human Resource at district hospital, establishment of Hospitality & Protocol Department at Leh and placing the police personnel’s of Leh to their home district back who are serving in Kashmir division since long. They also called for posting police personnel’s to the newly raised IRP Battalion.

Discussion was also held on the project ‘Juniper Conservation and Propagation’ and its inclusion under Intensification of Forest Management Scheme.

It was told that the Juniper plnt is found in its natural habitat in Leh-Ladakh and is revered as a very sacred plant. It also being used as incense in monasteries and also have very significance in religious festivals especially among Buddhist Community. The delegation requested for according necessary approvals to the project so that it can be conserved.

The Advisor after having thorough discussion with CEC LAHDC Leh and other member’s, assured them that all the issues raised would be looked into and appropriate action would be taken to address them.

JKSSB announces revised schedule for counselling, document verification of Asstt Store Keeper-cum-Clerk Posts

Jammu, Dec 4 : J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has rescheduled the Counselling-cum-Document verification process of the candidates scheduled on 6th and 7th December 2018, for the posts of Assistant Store Keeper-cum-Clerk (Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department), Divisional Cadre Kashmir. These posts were advertised vide Notification No: 03 of 2017 (Item No: 001).

According to PRO JKSSB, Malik Suhail, the Counselling-cum-Document verification for the candidates scheduled on 6th December 2018, shall now be held on 21st December 2018, at Central Office (Camp), J&K Services Selection Board, Zum Zum Complex, Rambagh, Srinagar at 10:30 AM sharp.

Similarly, he said, the Counselling-cum-Document verification scheduled for shortlisted candidates on 7th of December 2018, has been re-scheduled for 22nd December 2018, on the same venue and time.

He said the concerned candidates are accordingly informed to appear for Counseling-cum-Document verification as per the revised schedule.

Hurriyat (G) condemns crackdown on resistance leaders

Srinagar, Dec 4: Hurriyat Conference (G) has strongly condemned the crackdown on political workers especially the resistance leaders on the eve of ‘human rights day’, saying these actions are an attempt by Indian authorities to stifle the voice of Kashmiris who are struggling against the occupation and gross human rights violations in Kashmir.

A Hurriyat (G) spokesperson in a statement said detention of leaders and activists and dozens of youths is aimed at preventing them from spearheading the campaign to highlight human rights abuses committed by Indian forces.

“In order to prevent public demonstrations and protests against the gross human rights violations inflicted on Kashmiris day in and day out,” he said.

Around the world, communities, groups and individuals every year are supposed to observe and celebrate Human Rights Day and to promote the Universal Declaration on Human Rights, “but in occupied Kashmir, this historical day as usual witnessed brazen violations all international norms, and the so-called largest democracy didn’t allow any political activity or peaceful demonstrations”.

30.3% Voter Turnout in Phase-VII of Panchayat Polls in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 4 : 30.3 percent electorate turn out to cast vote in the phase-VII of the nine-phased Panchayat elections in Kashmir Valley on Tuesday.

North Kashmir’s Kupwara recorded the highest turnout of 45 percent while Anantnag, Budgam, and Baramulla recorded less than 18 percent voting. Budgam recorded lowest 13.1 percent, Anantnag 15.5 percent while Baramulla saw 17.8 percent voting, the election officials said. Ganderbal, the other central district, saw a voter turnout of 30.9 percent voting.  Jammu division recorded 84.8 percent polling and the Jammu and Kashmir as a whole saw 75.3 percent turnout, the officials added.

In Jammu division, Ramban recorded 83%, Reasi 86.7%, Samba 85.5%, Jammu 83.7%, Rajouri 84% while Poonch saw the highest turnout of 86.6%.

The voting began at 8 am at 2,714 polling stations – 576 in Kashmir division and 2,138 in Jammu division, they said.

The officials said 892 polling stations were categorized as “hypersensitive” in this phase, including 428 in Kashmir division and 464 in Jammu division.

They said 5,575 candidates are in the fray for 341 sarpanch and 1,798 panch seats, while 85 sarpanches and 912 panches have been elected unopposed in this phase.

An electorate of 4,75,865 were eligible to vote for sarpanch constituencies and 3,45,880 for panch constituencies, the officials said.

Phase-I of Panchayat Polls held on 17 November 2018, 74.1% polling was recorded across J&K including 64.5% in Kashmir division and 79.4% in Jammu division.

In the Phase-II of Panchayat Polls held on 20 November 2018, overall 71.1% polling was witnessed across the State with an 80.4% polling in Jammu division and 52.2% in Kashmir division.

He said in Phase-III, the State witnessed a poll percentage of 75.2% including 55.7% in Kashmir division and 83.0% in Jammu division.

In Phase-IV, he said, JK witnessed 71.3% voting with 82.4% electors exercising their franchise in Jammu division and 32.3% in Kashmir division.

In the Phase-V of Panchayat Polls overall poll percentage of 71.1% was witnessed across the State with 85.2% polling in Jammu division and 33.7% in Kashmir division.

In the Phase-VI of Panchayat Polls overall poll percentage of 76.9% was recorded across J&K including 17.3% in Kashmir division and 84.6% in Jammu division.

 

MES Builders Association protests against non-payment of dues in Baramulla

Baramulla, Dec 04 : Military Engineering Services (MES) Builders Association Baramulla on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration against the non-payment of dues by the MES.
Scores of MES Builders of Baramulla parts assembled at Carrippa Park to register their protest against non-payment of dues for works done by the builders.

The members of the MES Builders Association of India staged peaceful protest at Carrippa park Baramulla in north Kashmir in support of their demands.


Khursheed Ahmed Lone Chairman of MES Builders Association Baramulla said that we have been suffering a lot due to financial crunch for the last two years because of the non-payment of dues. He said that we have appealed to the Ministry of Defence to release our dues but despite several attempts, nothing has worked and due to that some of our contracts are facing financial problems,” he added.

The protesting builders said that,It is a matter of grave concern that we MES builders who are always committed to do their works in order to enhance the infrastructural capabilities of the military without considering the adverse climate conditions are being suffering due to the neglect attitude of authorities.

Meanwhile they appeal to the Ministry of Defence to immediately release their long pending dues.

Pertainally the MES builders were on two-day strike against their non-payment of dues.

NC pays tributes to Sher-e-Kashmir on his 113th birth anniversary

Srinagar, Dec 4, : National Conference on Tuesday paid glowing tributes to Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on the eve of his 113th Birth Anniversary.

The spokesman said that National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah, Vice President Omar Abdullah, and other senior party leaders, functionaries highlighted Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s legacy of sacrifices and statesmanship while pledging to fulfil his mission of restoring the political rights and honour of the State and its people.

Commemorative functions will be held across the State with major functions organized at Qaid Mazaar at Naseem Bagh in Srinagar and at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan in Jammu on Wednesday.

Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah will offer Fateha at Qaid Mazaar at Naseem Bagh in Srinagar on Tuesday morning in presence of Party Leaders, workers and activists.

NC President Dr Farooq Abdullah, while paying glowing tributes to Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah on his 113th Birth Anniversary said Sher-e-Kashmir’s struggles and sacrifices for the dignity of this State and its people need to be emulated to take the State out of the throes of divisive politics and sinister plans of political disempowerment. “Sher-e-Kashmir’s life was a valiant story of selfless leadership.

He fought for the political rights and dignity of his people till his last breath. He chose prison over power for his people and it is this sense of sacrifice and courage that needs to be instilled in our youth for the future of our State. Sher-e-Kashmir’s call for inclusiveness and secularism needs to be heard in every town and village of the State today – at a time when communal forces are trying their best to divide the people of the State on the basis of region and religion,” Dr. Farooq Abdullah said.

In his message, NC Vice President Omar Abdullah said “Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah’s legacy denotes the State’s high traits of pluralistic ethos and inclusiveness. He nurtured and strengthened this characteristic and cemented the bonds of love between various sections of the society and different regions of the State,” Omar said, adding that “His ultimate goal was the political and economic empowerment of the common man and the equitable development of the State. His vision of Naya Kashmir encompassed holistic and comprehensive development of all sections and all regions of the State without any favour or discrimination.”

Unknown miscreants chop off two dozen apple trees in Kulgam

Kulgam, Dec 4, : Unknown persons chopped off over two dozen trees in the middle of the night in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district-sending shock waves among orchardists of the district.

  Reports said that an orchardist identified as Abdul Rashid Dar son of Aba Dar of Kelam Kulgam virtually tried to end his life after he found his two dozen apple trees flatly lying on ground.

   “I don’t know who has done it. Whosoever has done it is a culprit and God will never forgive him. Over 24 apple trees have been cut by unknown men. I am finished,” Dar told news agency CNS.

  The incident sent shock waves among people who demanded stern punishment to culprits.

   “We have registered a formal case and investigation has been started to expose the culprits,” Davinder Singh, SHO Police Station Devsar said. (CNS)
