Perciles had rightly said that ‘just because you do not take interest in politics doesn’t mean politics won’t take an interest in you.’
Currently, the same thing appears to transpire in Jammu and Kashmir where on one hand people are stuck in a chaotic political impasse but on the other hand there is a wild tempest roaring inside the J&K’s political parties.
JK National Conference President Farooq Abdullah may have recently claimed to sweep the upcoming elections and form the next government but the strong reports of Devender Singh Rana leaving the Party and joining BJP are gaining momentum.
The incumbent NC Provincial President Jammu is currently in Delhi and his suspected exodus from the Party would create ripples in J&K’s political waters. His parting away from NC will initiate a domino effect that may even further encourage other dissidents to leave the party-fold.
However, People’s Conference recently witnessed veteran political leader Nizam-ud-din Bhat joining the party whom Sajad Lone described as a political leader ‘who will complement the party efforts for scripting a change in Jammu and Kashmir. The cadres of PC are believed to have been further strengthened by Bhat’s joining.
In a similar but unprecedented fashion, Javaid Mustafa Mir just out-of-blue joined Apni Party a few days ago. He was one of the close aides in PAGD and it was speculated that he might be joining NC soon but nothing seems to be predictable in politics unless it happens in reality.
The political experts have prophesied further deflections among J&K political parties in the impending future which fairly seems unstoppable until elections are formally declared.
