Srinagar, Jan 07 : PDP President and Former Cheif Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday said that it was not her political opponents only who always tried to destablize PDP but there were certain political leaders inside her party who had approached RSS headquarters in Nagpur to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir soon after the demise of her father Mufti Mohammad Syed.
Addressing a commemoration ceremony on third death anniversary of her father at Bejbehra in district Anantnag, Mehbooba said that some of her party collegues were after power who created a difficult environment for her in running the government and the party affairs.
The Former Cheif Minister apologized people for her infamous ”Toffee and Milk” remarks used by her during a joint press conference given in Srinagar along with the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
She also solicited apologies from public if according to her any sentiments were hurt because of her recent visits to the families of slain militants in south Kashmir.
Mehbooba reiterrated her commitment that she will continue to further PDP’s agenda of peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue.
Appealing party workers to repose trust and confidence in her party Mehbooba said that formation of the government or coming to power has never been a priority for her and her party leadership.
She also questioned the elements who according to her had created an atmosphere of chaos during her tenure as the chief minister.
“I want to question you that where are those elements who would push children of ordinary and poor families to streets to create a chaotic situation during our rule. Where are they now? This is why I was appealing to children on streets those days to refrain from becoming a canon fodder. This is was a call from a mother’s heart who at times uses harsh words to get her children mend ways,” she said while regretting for her “toffee and milk” cliche.
