Once again Kashmir has bled red as the three persons, a cop, one local, another non-local, have been shot at by the unknown gunmen in the last two days. The pain and suffering has somehow become akin to the inhabitants of the valley.
Gone are the days when Kashmir was known for its terrain and serenity. Now agonies and bloodshed have tainted that historical image. People appear to be tired and worn because of this incessant violence.
There is a vigorous search for respite and an imminent end to this cycle of death which has been responsible for killing thousands of human beings who could never know the reasons for which they were killed.
Enough of the human blood has been spilled over, even this earth is soaked and drenched in this red fluid. There must be a forward, there always has been, as violence begets more violence which ultimately annihilates populations & civilizations.
People understand very well that bloodshed cannot lead them forward and there exists a demand for a firm resolve through which sanctity of human lives is acknowledged from all quarters.
Only then peace can prevail and people can live in tranquillity and communal harmony. We need to search for the socio-cultural foundations of J&K that was based on living in diversity with tolerance and affection. That legacy of ours seems to have been lost but surely needs to be reclaimed.
The violence has already broke so many dreams but now is the high time to make a difference and put forth efforts to end this ominous death cycle. Otherwise, very soon enough the narrations of our golden days will become a content for history books.
