Union MoS for W&CD and AYUSH visits Baramulla, Interacts with PRI’s

Baramulla, October 21: As part of the Union Government’s public outreach programme, Hon’ble Union Minister of State, Ministry of Women and Child Development and Ayush, Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai visited Baramulla district wherein he presided over a Seminar on Regimenal Therapies in Modern Perspective. The minster inaugurated Hijama/ Cupping Therapy Camp. The Minister also interacted with PRIs and listened their demands and grievances.

At the outset, The minister presided over a seminar titled “Regimenal Therapies in Modern Perspective” with unveiling a plaque to inaugurate the Hijama/ Cupping Therapy Camp. The seminar was organised by Health and Medical Education Department, Directorate of Ayush, Jammu and Kashmir.

On the occasion, the Minister highlighted the importance of AYUSH. He said that these systems are based on definite medical philosophies and represent a way of healthy living with established concepts on prevention of diseases and promotion of health.

The minster also inspected the stalls of Cupping Therapy installed by the Department of AYUSH depicting different practices and medical procedures.

Complimenting the participants who attended the seminar, the Union Minister highlighted the significance of AYUSH medicare services and said that good public health through the intervention of innovative and traditional practices is the top most concern of the government. The Minister also said that institutions of AYUSH are being strengthened at grass root level and every possible step shall be taken in this regard.
The Minister on the occassion said that the Union Government has a good dream for development of Jammu and Kashmir, and added that Government of India is working on various flagship programmes aimed to develop socio economic status of the people.He assured that eveby possible initiatives on part of Union Govenrment shall be taken to upgrade and develop the basic health institution of Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier, the Minister conducted interaction programme with the PRI representatives of different blocks of District Baramula at Dak Bungalow.

During the interaction programme, DDCs, BDC Chairpersons, Sarpanchs of different blocks apprised the Minister about various basic issues related to water supply and electricity, health, education, improvement of roads, establishment of Sub Health Centres and other demands of public importance.

Moreover, DDC Sangrama sought the need of establishment of Drug De-addiction Centres at large, observation homes for reception Juvenile during the pendency of any inquiry, upgradation of infrastructure of Juvenile Justice Board and full fledged Principal Magistrate.
BDC Chairpersons Uri on the other hand highlighted the need of Filtration Plant in the area, upgradation of health system besides restoration of ICDS centers.

The Minister patiently listened to all the issues and demands put forth by the PRIs and directed the concerned officers to prepare a list of issues/grievances pertaining to their departments and resolve the achievable ones within a stipulated period of time.

Replying to the demands and issues raised by DDCs, the Minister directed the concerned officers to take inter-departmental meetings taking PRIs on board and prepare a holistic list of works that need to be taken on priority.

Meanwhile, the Minister also enquired about the status of ongoing works in different blocks of Baramulla district and directed the concerned dignatories to ensure monitoring of these works by way of carrying regular field visits and urged PRIs to play their active role in monitoring of ongoing works in their Panchayats and sought their cooperation for timely completion of these works.

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar, SSP Baramulla, Rayees Mohammad Bhat,Director AYUSH J&K, Dr Mohan Singh, ADDC Baramulla, Aijaz Abdullah Saraf,Joint Director Planning M.Yousuf Rather among other senior functionaries were present on the occassion.
