Village will get water per schedule soon : J.E PHE Handwara

Srinagar: Several villages in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district are facing a water crisis with the PHE department supplying the residents water once in two to three days, while in some villages once in a week.
Residents of Kralgund village of this Kupwara district on a phone conversation with Kashmir Despatch said since the past 20 days they are without water and authorities hardly bother to look into this issue.
They said Kralgund village in this northern region is worst affected due to the non-availability of water in the village for the past 20 days.
The residents of Khawaja Mohalla area of Kralgund village said water crisis has become one of the major issues in this village as despite living in the modern world we do not have access to safe drinking water and clear water for sanitation purpose.
The villagers said it has become very difficult for the concerned department to provide people with drinking water to maintain their day-to-day routines.
Sajad Ahmed a resident talking with Kashmir Despatch correspondent said most of the people in this village do not have direct access to safe water due to the neglecting attitude of the PHE department as it has been over 20 days village is yet to get water. He said this indicates the seriousness of admin towards their people.
Another inhabitant of this village said without one drop of water supply, we have suffered enough, in these 20 days. He said we are facing water shortage from the last two weeks and nobody bothers to look into the crises as there is no water to drink, cook and wash.
Meanwhile, the residents appealed to the higher authorities to look into the matter and restore water supply in the area as soon as possible so that they ll not face more inconvenience.
Junior Assistant at PHE Handwara Navpreet Singh told this newspaper that no doubt the area is suffering from water crisis since long due to the low flow of water in the supply, he said already department had taken cognizance of this issue and are trying hard to redress at earliest. Officer said in languishing project the water crisis for this village will be redressed. He said that the department will send water tankers in the village as an alternative until the problem will be resolved.
When asked the past 20 days the village is without water, the officer said he is not aware of this suffering, however, added that he will personally look into this matter and will verify from the filed officer.
