Srinagar, Sept 18 : The Wildlife department on Saturday said that it will scan 10 kilometre hotspot areas after leopard attacked and mauled another minor boy to death in Central Kashmir’s Budgam yesterday.
Chief Wildlife Warden Kashmir, Rashid Naqash said that people should cooperate with wildlife department and restrict their children from venturing out during evening hours.
He said that they have devised a joint strategy with other department including, police, forest, forest protection and other concerned department, which will scan 10 kilometre radius that are hotspots in the area to avoid such incidents in the future.
He also said that the department has so far captured around 7 leopards in the same area after a minor girl was mauled to death some time back in the area.
“Wild animals are usually more aggressive during the morning and evening hours and can even resort to killing of humans during those times. That explains why the minor boy was attacked in the evening,” he said.
He also said that the wildlife department is on toes to minimise the attacks and is trying hard to aware people through social, electronic and print media.
Pertinantly, in a tragic incident a 7-yr old boy was killed by leopard in Haran Soibugh area of Budgam yesterday evening when he was playing in the lawns of his house.
